I pride myself in taking a very different approach to treatment than most other practitioners. I respect each person as an individual and as the expert of their own life. I help individuals form therapeutic and life goals and act as a support in achieving those goals. I respect each person as an equal, rather than taking on the more traditional “pseudo-authoritarian” therapist role. I am more than happy to work with a variety of different people.
Whereas I do specialize in treating anxiety disorders such as Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, personality disorders, namely Dependent, Narcissistic, and Antisocial personality disorders, I also specialize in working with police officers and other emergency personnel, as well as the LBGT communities, particularly the trans* community. Other treatment issues that I may be able to assist with include hoarding, internet/computer/gaming addictions, sex addiction, and agoraphobia. I am happy to try various avenues in order to achieve results.
I believe that family members can be a part of my “treatment team”. I honor the importance of understanding what a loved one is experiencing and work with families to be able to empower one another in a healthy fashion, rather than continuing to enable destructive behaviors and habits.
